Empowering Women in Tigray: Celebrating 500 Success Stories

At Wogahta, we believe that supporting women creates lasting change for entire communities. Today, we celebrate a major milestone: over 500 women in Tigray now have the tools and resources to build sustainable livelihoods. This achievement reflects years of focused work and the strength of local partnerships.

Building Foundations for Independence

Our approach goes beyond temporary aid. We provide women with high-quality poultry, livestock, veterinary feed, and business training. These resources help them start small businesses that generate steady income. For example, in Adwa, 300 new women received 10 chickens and 50 kilograms of specialized feed each. This support allows them to raise healthy poultry and sell eggs or meat locally.

The business training covers essential skills such as:

• Animal care and health management

• Basic bookkeeping and financial planning

• Marketing and customer relations

One beneficiary, from Adwa, shared how the program changed her life. Before joining, she struggled to provide for her family. After receiving chickens and training, she started selling eggs in her village market. Her income increased steadily, allowing her children to attend school and improving her family’s nutrition.

Another example is Sara, who expanded her poultry business by reinvesting profits into buying more chickens. She now employs two other women, creating jobs and strengthening her community.
