Happy New Year, Friends of Wogahta!
As we close out 2025, we are grateful to share highlights from Wogahta’s Annual Board Meeting held on December 27, a moment to reflect, recommit, and look ahead.
This past year marked a historic milestone: Wogahta’s first full year as a U.S.-registered 501(c)(3) organization. Together, we empowered 202 women survivors of war-related gender-based violence through community-led livelihood programs, exceeded expectations in our year-end fundraising campaigns, and built the capacity to expand support to 350+ women in Mariam Shewito ahead of schedule.
The Board also engaged in thoughtful discussion around the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Tigray. While an emergency donation was considered, the Board chose to pause action until a safe, legal, and transparent distribution mechanism can be verified, reflecting our deep commitment to accountability and responsible stewardship.
Thanks to your generosity, Wogahta raised $16,500 through year-end campaigns, nearly quadrupled our contact list, and closed the year with a strong financial footing as we plan for 2026.
As we move forward, our focus remains clear: healing, dignity, and sustainable empowerment for women survivors, with openness to future growth as capacity allows.
Thank you for standing with us. Together, we are helping bring a new dawn.
With gratitude,
The Wogahta Board of Trustees
